Auburn is distinctive for its early colossal portico, Georgian millwork, and spiral staircase. It was built in 1812 for Lyman Harding by Levi Weeks, who was acquitted of murder in a famous New York Trial in 1800. In 1827, Dr. Stephan Duncan acquired Auburn, which his heirs donated with 203 acres to the city in 1911.
